Total Foot Repair, a footcare service based in Rotherham and founded by owner and Foot Health Care Practitioner Amy Williams SAC Dip RFHP, continues to go from strength to strength as the business celebrates its one-year milestone.

Established in April 2024, Amy had previously enjoyed a successful 20-year career as a primary school teacher. However, following the death of her father, she decided to pursue her passion for helping those suffering from poor foot health. She re-trained as a Foot Health Practitioner and launched her fledgling business, now supporting patients across Rotherham and the wider South Yorkshire region.

On launching her new business, Amy said, “When I launched Total Foot Repair, I was seeking to provide professional footcare to those who need it most, right in the comfort of their own homes.

“I was drawn to foot health because it’s deeply personal for me, from caring for my grandma’s feet to understanding the role our feet play in a person’s overall health and wellbeing. I quickly realised there was a real gap in local services. Many residents, especially those who are housebound or living with conditions like Alzheimer’s or diabetes, were unable to access treatment in a timely manner.”

Speaking on the range of treatments available from Total Foot Repair, Amy explained, “I provide a full range of footcare treatments designed to support both immediate relief and long-term wellbeing. From routine nail trimming, hard skin and corn removal, to treating more complex issues like ingrown toenails and verrucae, every service is delivered with the highest level of care and attention.”

“Around half of my patients are aged 70 and over, many of whom face mobility challenges or long-term conditions like diabetes. I also regularly treat younger people – from children aged 10 to 15 suffering from persistent verrucae to athletes and sports people who need support with foot health and injury prevention.”

When asked what patients value most from her service, Amy shared, “Many of them tell me they feel like they’re ‘walking on air’ after a treatment. The comfort of being treated at home, in familiar surroundings, makes all the difference, especially for those with mobility issues or long-term conditions.”

“Where some providers are unable to offer treatments to housebound or bedbound individuals, I take the time to ensure everyone has access to compassionate footcare, no matter their circumstances.”

Supporting big ideas: How our Launchpad team played a part in Amy’s journey

On the support Amy received from RiDO in supporting her business, Amy said, “I first learned about Rotherham Launchpad when my husband came across a Facebook advert. At the time, I had recently resigned from my teaching position and was at a crossroads, figuring out how to turn my passion for foot health into a business. With my husband’s encouragement, we booked a meeting with the team at RiDO, eager to find out whether my idea would work and how to ensure the business would survive.

“As someone who had spent 20 years in teaching, I had a range of skills but needed help with areas like bookkeeping, marketing, and business administration. The support from Launchpad was invaluable. I was introduced to new, free courses every month, and I found them incredibly useful for plugging gaps in my knowledge. I learned how to use tools like Canva to design my logo and get creative with social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and even Google Trends.

“My advice to other businesses looking to access support would be simple – don’t hesitate to reach out. Many of the people I trained with had similar experiences. If there’s support available in your area, you should definitely take advantage of it – the assistance you’ll receive is truly invaluable.”
